We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God (2 Timothy 3 vs16; John 17 vs17) and as such is the supreme and final authority for what we believe and how we live our life together. We proclaim the crucified and risen Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the Saviour of the world. (1 Corinthians 15 vs 3-4 and the Gospel accounts).
We believe that God desires and invites everyone to know Him personally (John 3 vs16; Romans 6 vs23) and have eternal life. The worship of God is at the heart of our life as a church, individually and as a community. The preaching of God’s Word (the Bible) is a central part of our Sunday worship. (John 4 vs23-24; Romans 12 vs21; Colossians 3 vs16).
We practise believer’s baptism. Baptism is the occasion when we commit ourselves to Christ and to his church. It is normally by immersion and is a symbol of the believer’s resolve to die to self and to live for Christ. (Acts 2 vs 37-39; Acts 8 vs12)
We believe the church is a local community of believers, who have committed themselves to Christ and to one another. We come together in the Church Meeting to pray and discern God’s will for our life together. Under Christ, the Church Meeting seeks to determine and fulfil the church’s mission and ministry under the leading of the Holy Spirit.
We believe in the ‘priesthood of all believers’. Every member is gifted by God’s Spirit and has a role to play in the life of the church. In particular every member is called to witness to the Good News of Jesus. (1 Peter 2 vs5; Hebrews 10 vs 12-14)
